Parker was a telegraphy instructor in Janesville, Wisconsin, and had a sideline repairing and selling fountain pens. Dismayed by the unreliability of the pens, he experimented with ways to prevent ink leaks. In 1888, Parker founded the Parker Pen Company. The next year he received his first fountain pen patent. By 1908, his factory on Main Street in Janesville was reportedly the largest pen manufacturing facility in the world. Parker eventually became one of the world's premier pen brands, and one of the first brands with a global presence. George S. Parker High School in Janesville is his namesake.[1][2] Parker graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.[3]

Notes

gollark: Thing is though that I was told```> You have, through your own admission on the forums, done the exact thing that got EATW banned from the API.```after using archived EATW data for my very briefly-running hatchery.
gollark: As I think I mentioned previously, it is *very confusing*, given that:* they are claimed to have shut down due to viewbombing* TJ09 said that they had API access revoked
gollark: Was there not some thing with snow angel colors?
gollark: That does make the ridiculously broad reverse engineering terms (and their enforcement) *slightly* more reasonable if it's true.
gollark: <@372386431416401920> What is this other EATW-related stuff you mentioned?
