George Edward Lynch
George Edward Lynch (March 4, 1917 – May 25, 2003) was an American bishop of the Catholic Church. He served as an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Raleigh from 1970–1985.

Biography
George Lynch was born in New York City, in the borough of the Bronx, to Timothy and Margaret (O'Donnell) Lynch.[1] He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Raleigh on May 29, 1943. On October 20, 1969 Pope Paul VI appointed him as the Titular Bishop of Satafi and Auxiliary Bishop of Raleigh. Lynch earned a doctoral degree in canon law with the publication of his dissertation, "Coadjutors and Auxiliaries of Bishops", (Catholic University of America diss. 238, 1947) 96 pp. He was ordained a bishop by Bishop Vincent Waters on January 6, 1970. The principal co-consecrators were Bishops Joseph Federal of Salt Lake City and Charles McLaughlin of St. Petersburg. He continued to serve as an auxiliary bishop until his resignation was accepted by Pope John Paul II on April 16, 1985. He died May 25, 2003 at the age of 86.[2][3]
