History
The Genetti was built in 1921 in the midst of Williamsport's huge logging boom. The hotel opened on June 21, 1922 as the Lycoming Hotel.[1]
The architect of the hotel was New Jersey-born William Lee Stoddart.[1]
Construction
The Genetti took a little over a year to build, with construction starting in 1921 and the project being completed in 1922. It is the tallest building in Williamsport.[1]
The hotel has been through many renovations, such as a new modern ballroom, new elevators, and a restoration of the hotel's exterior.

The celebrity visitors and overnight guests at the Genetti have included Gene Kelly, Clarence Darrow, Rita Hayworth, Carl Sandburg, Bob Dylan, and politicians including Robert F. Rich, John M. Snowden, Governor Edward Martin, Alvin Bush, Robert F. Kennedy and Tom Ridge.
