Nolan played two games for Hawthorn in the early part of the 1934 VFL season, scoring a goal in each of his games against Collingwood[3] and Essendon[4] but mostly played for the reserves in his time at Hawthorn in 1934. He returned to Caulfield and then in 1937 trialled with both Oakleigh[5] and Hawthorn.[6] He chose Oakleigh, and became a key goal scorer for them over the next four seasons.[7]
He later served in the Australian Army in Papua New Guinea during World War II.[8]

gollark: Fear it, as they say.
gollark: I am actually considering changing this from a server-rendered to client-rendered-ish application so I can have "usable sidebars" and similar technology.
