Fahd Al-Rasheed

Fahd Abdulmohsan Alrasheed (Arabic: فهد بن عبدالمحسن بن صالح الرشيد‎) is President of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (since November 2019) following Royal Decree No. A/198, dated 3/22/1441 AH[1] . The assignment follows Al-Rasheed’s appointment as Advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia.

Education

Al-Rasheed holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis (1999), a Master in Business Administration from Stanford University in California (2005), and a Management Degree in Real Estate Development from Harvard University (2011).

Career

Al-Rasheed served for over a decade, from January 2008 to September 2018, as the Group CEO and Managing Director of King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), the first publicly listed city in the world and one of the largest private sector projects globally. The City – located on the Red Sea Coast in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and covering a total area of 181 million square meters – is considered one of the most advanced and sustainable cities in the world.

Under Al-Rasheed’s leadership, KAEC was responsible for developing one of the largest ports in the world 2] (currently ranked among the largest 100 in the world) and attracted over 120 leading global and regional companies to establish their industrial compounds, making KAEC the fastest growing logistics and manufacturing hub in the region. Al-Rasheed also spearheaded the development of a significant number of residential, utility and leisure projects that transformed KAEC into one of the leading tourism and residential destinations in the region.

Prior to joining The Economic City, Al-Rasheed held the post of CFO and Deputy Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). Previous to his work in SAGIA, Al-Rasheed worked at Saudi Aramco, where he led several initiatives in investment and corporate finance.

Board Memberships

Al-Rasheed is Founder and Chairman of the Red Sea Foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland, a non-profit foundation that is focused on promoting trade in the Red Sea region.

He is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Prince Mohammad bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship – the first of its kind in the Kingdom – which aims to be an incubator and trainer of business entrepreneurs and future leaders across key sectors (governmental, private sector and civil community foundations). The College was established in collaboration with the Mohamed bin Salman Foundation (MiSK Foundation), Babson International College and Lockheed Martin Corporation.

In addition, Al-Rasheed serves on the Boards and Committees of several organizations, including Emaar, The Economic City (King Abdullah Economic City), Ports Development Company (King Abdullah Port), the Advisory Board of the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University, Diplomatic Quarters Authority, and New Cities Foundation (a non-profit foundation based in Geneva), and was honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2011.
