Fabrice Burgaud

Fabrice Burgaud (born 1971), is a French magistrate well-known to process the file of the Outreau trial. On February 8, 2006, Fabrice Burgaud is auditioned by the parliamentarians to review his actions as examining magistrate during the Outreau trial.[1]

The event is passed by several television channels (for instance TF1, France 2 and La Chaîne Parlementaire) and radios. The judge Burgaud said since the start : “Today, maybe more than any other, I can feel their pain [of the acquitted men, whose some were present during the audition], imagine all they had lived, the imprisonment, the break-up with the loved ones, the disputed honesty… I’m entirely responsible of my investigation and don’t want to elude my responsibility”.[2]

He said, at the risk of chocking, that he “made honestly his work without any prejudice at all.” He had also insisted, giving up several edifying details, on the horrible nature of the children’s testimonies, describing horrendous mistreatment[3]
