Evelio Leonardia

Evelio "Bing" Ramos Leonardia (born 10 July 1952) is a Filipino politician, lawyer, and realtor who served as mayor of Bacolod since 2016, having previously served from 1995 until 1998, and 2004 until 2013.

Early life

He earned his degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce from then La Salle College-Bacolod, now University of St. La Salle, graduating cum laude. Also, he finished the Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos (UNO-R) in 1979 and passed the Bar Examinations that same year.

Political life

He is the longest-serving Mayor of the City of Bacolod - now on his 6th term, and, so far, the only Bacolod official to have gone through the legislative and executive ladders - starting as No. 1 Councilor, then Vice Mayor, and finally Mayor; and after making history serving for 3 consecutive terms, he went on the become Congressman of the Lone District of Bacolod, before returning to serve as City Mayor.

Concurrently , he is the National President of the League of Cities of the Philippines(LCP), where he previously held positions as National Vice President, National Vice chairman, Vice President, and Deputy Secretary General for the Visayas. In October 2019, he was appointed by President Duterte as the lone representative of all LGUs in the country to the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council, the highest consultative and advisory body to the president on economic and development matters.
