Release

The film released along with eight other Tamil films on 3 August 2018.[3]

The Times of India gave the film a rating of one out of five stars and wrote that "Even for a generic comedy thriller, Enga Kaattula Mazhai is filled with clichés that turn it highly predictable".[4] Cinema Express also gave the film the same rating and stated that "A poorly written spin-off of Thedinen Vanthathu, that hardly evokes a giggle".[5]
