MotherLady Jin-yang of the Jincheon Song clan

She was born in 20 November 1872 into the Yeoheung Min clan. Her father was Min Taeho, leader of the Yeoheung Min clan, and her older brother, Min Yeong-ik, was the adoptive nephew of Empress Myeongseong. She married Sunjong in 1882, and died on 5 November 1904. She was a witness to her mother-in-law's assassination in 1895, when she stood in front of the Empress, attempting to protect her.[1] This may have contributed to her early death, as she was plagued by severe depression thereafter.[1] She was appointed as empress after her death.

She died before her husband was enthroned.[2] She is buried with her husband and his second wife, Empress Sunjeong.[1]

Trivia

Empress Sunmyeong’s uncle, Min Seung-ho, is the adoptive older brother to her mother-in-law; which makes her the adoptive niece to Empress Myeongseong, and the biological niece to Grand Princess Consort Sunmok, Emperor Gojong’s mother. She is also cousins with Min Yeong-hwan and Min Yeong-chan.

gollark: Besides, that isn't even particularly true for many of them.
gollark: They could cause you to cause harm to other people, but so can a lot of things, so I don't think this is a reasonable standard.
gollark: If you own your own body, I would assume that this includes being able to put drugs in it.
gollark: I doubt this? Basically all governments impose restrictions on e.g. drugs.
