Emmanuel Lenain

Emmanuel Lenain (born 27 March 1970[1]) is Ambassador of France to India.

Career

Lenain began his career at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in 1997. Early in his career he worked in the peace negotiations in Kosovo. In 2000 he was posted to New York City to work at the French mission at the United Nations. In 2003 he was posted to Beijing to work at the French Embassy to China as a political counsellor. In 2005 he returned to France to be foreign advisor to Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin. In 2007 he was posted in Washington, D. C., where he was head of the department of press and communications for Embassy of France, Washington, D.C.. From 2010 to 2015 he was the French consul to Shanghai. From 2015 to 2017 he was director of the Asia-Pacific division of the French Foreign Ministry. In 2017 he was appointed diplomatic advisor to Prime Minister Édouard Philippe. As of 2019, he is the Ambassador of France to India.
