Career

Morelli was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 28, 1996 of Italian descent. At the age of 12, she discovered her love for music and learned how to write music after moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Morelli would go on to write songs for and even appear in numerous commercials including ones for Mattel and Spin Master.[1]

Morelli's musical talent lead her and her friend Alina Smith (whom she met while living in Nashville) to form the pop production duo "Lyre" (stylized in all caps). Morelli soon began to use the stage name "Elli Moore". Under Lyre, Smith normally handles the technical production, while Morelli handles songwriting and composing.[2]

Morelli currently serves as the singing voice of Barbie Roberts in the Netflix original series Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures.[3]

Through Lyre, Morelli has written songs with numerous singers including Mackenzie Ziegler[4] and Kirstin Maldonado,[5] among others including Gabbie Hanna, whose August 2018 dual-released Lyre-produced tracks "Honestly & Honestly (Encore)" would hit numbers 1 and 2 on the U.S. iTunes Chart respectively with "Honestly" hitting number 21 on the Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.[6]

On February 14, 2019, Morelli released her debut single "Gateway",[7] along with a music video directed by Nayip Ramos. The music video showed Morelli chasing after an ex-boyfriend at a house party while numerous friends (Hanna, Niki DeMartino, Lexi Jayde, and more) try to dissuade her. The music video currently has almost 80,000 views.[8]

On May 31, 2019, Hanna's debut extended play 2WayMirror was released.[9] The EP was written entirely by Hanna, Morelli, and Smith and produced solely under Lyre. It would eventually debut and peak at number 126 on the Billboard 200 despite having only a digital release, while simultaneously charting on lesser charts.[10]

Morelli would soon release two more singles, "Somebody To Talk To" and "I Love To Hate You" on June 7 and July 26 respectively.[11][12]

On October 17, 2019, Morelli released her fourth single titled "OK".[13] Eight days later, she would release the official music video, directed by Dametreus "Meech" Ward, which currently has almost 260,000 views. The video features Morelli performing the song around various decorative sets.[14]

On February 20, 2020, Morelli announced her debut EP Confections and made it available for pre-save.[15] The EP would arrive on March 11, 2020 featuring her four previous singles released in 2019, one new song ("Stomach"), two interlude tracks ("Overture" and "Confections"), and acoustic versions of "OK" and "Somebody To Talk To", totaling 9 songs, making for an unconventionally long EP.[16]

Eight days after the EP's release, Morelli would release the Kristopher Head-directed music video for "Stomach" on March 19. The video features Morelli having a "messy mukbang" of pancakes.[17] On March 26, an acoustic duet version of "Stomach" featuring Ziegler was released on YouTube.[18]

On March 29, 2020, Morelli released her first merchandise line[19] and currently has over 500,000 views on her YouTube channel.[20]

Four days after the release of her merchandise line, on April 2, Morelli released the official music video for "Somebody To Talk To (Acoustic)", directed by Patrick Walsh.[21] On April 9, Morelli released the official music video for "OK (Acoustic)", also directed by Walsh.[22]

gollark: osmarkscalculator™ still can't do that, sadly.
gollark: Oh dear. There appear to be problems.
gollark: Anyway, you can do NAT64 or whichever way it is, if you're bad.
gollark: Hmm. I wonder if I should be worried about the seek/read error rate on my shiny 4TB disk.
