Ed Marszewski

Edward Marszewski (also known as Ed Mar[1]) is a publisher, artist[2] and entrepreneur[3][4] from Bridgeport, Chicago.[5] He has been nicknamed the unofficial 'Mayor of Bridgeport'.[6]

Publishing

Marszewski is co-director of the Public Media Institute[7] which publishes Lumpen magazine[8] and Mash Tun Journal.[9] Marszewski also publishes Proximity Magazine[10][11] and the Quarantine Times.[12]

Restaurants

Marszewski is co-founder of Kimski[13], a Polish and Korean fusion restaurant[14], Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar, Pizza Fried Chicken Ice Cream[15] and Marz Community Brewing.[16][17][18]

Along with others, Marszewski rented space[19] for an art gallery called 'BuddY' in Wicker Park from 2002[20] until 2004[21] which operated as an "experimental cultural center"[22], and currently operates an art gallery called Co-Prosperity Sphere[23][24] (named after a live action role-playing group faction in the film Darkon) which operates Lumpen Radio as low-power radio station WLPN-LP[25] inside the gallery. Marszewski is founder of various festivals in Chicago such as Version Fest[26][27][28] and Select Media Festival.[29] Marszewski has written many articles for Lumpen magazine[30] and is opening a new 'Buddy' in the Chicago Cultural Center.[31]
