The song was covered in Japanese (as "Dancing Hero") by Yōko Oginome[1]. The original (released in Japan under the title "Suteki na High Energy Boy") was also popular there, spending four consecutive weeks at the very top of Oricon's International Singles Chart in early 1986.[2]
There are also a Chinese cover titled "Tiào Wǔ Jiē" (released by Hong Kong singer Priscilla Chan in 1986) and a Korean one titled "Hwalyeohan Single" (released by South Korean singer Yang Hye Seung).
Composition
Angie co-wrote this song with Anthony Baker.[3][4] Her recording was produced by Les Hunt.[4]
She later re-recorded the song with producer Ian Levine for her 1995 album The Best of Angie Gold (subtitled "Eat You Up").[5][6]
Cover versions
The Chinese version is adapted from the Japanese one and is titled "Tiào Wǔ Jiē" (Chinese: 跳舞街), which can be translated as "Dancing in the Street". Popular Hong Kong singer Priscila Chan released it in May 1986 after signing with PolyGram in the same year.[7] The song topped the charts[7] and was awarded the 1986 Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Award for Most Popular Disco Song (Chinese: 最受歡迎Disco歌曲).[8] It is regarded as one of the pinnacles of Chan's career.[7]
A Korean-language version titled "Hwalyeohan Single" (Korean: 화려한 싱글, lit. "Gorgeous Single Man") was recorded by South Korean female singer Yang Hye Seung (born 1970).

I mixed "Applause" and produced "Third Finger Left Hand" for Passion, I cut "Right Back In The Middle" for Nightmare and the album, "The Best Of Angie Gold" on Hot, from Miami. She now lives in the Canary Islands. The Divas rule once again. When we did the album in the 1990s, we re-recorded her huge High Energy anthem, "Eat You Up', and here she is performing it.
