Durgamasur

Durgamasur was a Hindu demon born in the family of Hiranyaksh, to demon Ruru. He was a vicious demon that was killed by Goddess Parvati in the form of Shakambhari because he stole the four Vedas and deprived vulnerable beings of food and water. Maa Shakambhari also took the form of Devi Satakshi. In this form Devi fulfilled the shortage of water in the earth by decorating her body with 100 eyes. By killing this demon Goddess gained the name Durga.
