Early Life

Drew Rasmussen was born on July 27th, 1995 to parents Kim and Mark Rasmussen in Puyallup, Washington. He shares a birthday with Jon Arbuckle[1], and shares a mutual love of orange cats. While he generally excelled at every other sport he tried, he eventually settled on baseball, focusing his manifold drive and ambition to be a pro athlete someday. His good nature endeared him to many people in early life and out on the field as an adult.

Career

Rasmussen attended Mt. Spokane High School in Mead, Washington,[2] and later attended the Oregon State University where he played college baseball for the Beavers. Prior to his freshman season Rasmussen was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 39th round of the 2014 MLB draft. On March 21, 2015, as a freshman, he pitched the only perfect game in the team's history, in a 3–0 victory over Washington State.[3] He was drafted 31st overall in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays[4] but did not sign.[5]

Rasmussen underwent his second Tommy John surgery in September 2017 which forced him to miss all of the 2018 season.[6][7] Despite this, he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.[8][9]
