Drakensberger
The Drakensberger is a breed of cattle indigenous to South Africa, where it developed over several centuries.[1][2] In 1497 Vasco da Gama acquired a black ox from local natives and loved the meat. Drakensberger cattle are the first black cattle recorded on the Cape of Africa; they were also called Uys cattle until 1947. They adapt well to local conditions, are good mothers and good-tempered, and have tender and succulent meat, a long breeding life, low mortality and high milk production.
