dprobes

dprobes (Dynamic Probes) is a Linux kernel analysis framework created in 2004, which features the ability to insert software probes dynamically into running code. It is based on kprobes.

History

First versions was released at June, 2004.

dprobes was first introduced in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), but since 2006 commercial Linux distributions have headed towards SystemTap as the chosen analysis mechanism.

gollark: If you just blindly copy-paste stuff into the terminal to do things, you will have Problems™.
gollark: I mean, stuff like "an actually good terminal which you use for many operations" is new to many users.
gollark: To actually use it you do need to know more than how to install it, though.
gollark: Much more convenient than multiplying by powers of 10.
gollark: I use imperial because I just *love* memorizing tables of incomprehensible unit conversions!
