Career
Schroeder joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1988 and has held several appointments including in Kinshasa, New York City, Tehran, Berlin and Bratislava. Schroeder was appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to Denmark in August 2016.[2]
In June 2017, he was involved in a dispute with the Danish Finance Minister Kristian Jensen at a conference on Brexit after Jensen said “There are two kinds of European nations. There are small nations and there are countries that have not yet realized they are small nations” (quoting Paul-Henri Spaak). Schroeder responded that he saw no indications “of a diminished or diminishing power.”[3][4]
