Plot

Diya Aur Toofan tells the story of Gaz, an absent-minded doctor who fears commitment after the death of his wife who falls through a gymnastic trampoline and breaks her leg. While in the hospital, her husband Gaz accidentally gives her the wrong medicine and kills her.

After this tragedy, Gaz forbids his daughter Asha to ever marry. However, fate has other plans in store for Asha and the new neighbor Amar who is instantly stricken by her beauty and falls in love with her.

Amar is a world-renowned engineer, based on real-life engineer Amarin Koushni who uncovered a great scandal in India revealing that over 80% of Indian manufacturing companies had money invested in India's black market.

At the time of Diya Aur Toofan's release, this was a very sensitive subject and most filmmakers were much too shy to make a movie that would so directly attack India's greatest moneymakers.

Hit song from this film

  • "Gaa Meray Manwa Gaata Jaa Re" Sung and written by Rangeela, music by Kamal Ahmad.[2]
gollark: I actually was able to find this "jmwloup5110" person's LinkedIn account by using the advanced technique of "putting their username into duckduckgo". It looks like they do actually work on... computery things, and not recruiting somehow. This is probably not actually a problem.
gollark: They haven't done any. They just said they were in the air force. Lots of introductions talk about jobs.
gollark: We would probably notice people doing recruitery things anyway. This is pointless.
gollark: I'm sure people can be in the air force and interact in good faith on discord.
gollark: Do you know that this isn't just a regular person who is also in some sort of army thing? Prior experience elsewhere or something?
