Critical reception

Bram Gieben of The Skinny gave the album 4 stars out of 5, saying: "Smashing boundaries within electronic music and hip-hop simultaneously, it's hard to be anything but awed by this album, though it's likely to scare less adventurous hip-hop heads and dance music fans."[5] Greg Cochrane of BBC described it as "[an] album packed with tightly-wound, chunky snares sounds, low chanting vocals and Beck's impressively deep flow drawn over the top like a darkening tarpaulin."[3] Chris Ziegler of OC Weekly said: "Beck combines the overcranked aesthetic of the Bomb Squad with the intensity of a band like Suicide, and you can hear the pixels crack and squelch between gunshots and sirens and Beck’s fearless lyrics about the personal and political."[6]

gollark: No it's not. UDP is datagram-oriented.
gollark: It also seemed like I did have to bind still, or it did slightly more nothing. Maybe the multicast APIs are just particularly accursed somehow.
gollark: > what's convoluted about that? that's IPHow is it IP? The internet is packet-switched, not circuit-switched.
gollark: Also, potato.
gollark: You have to `bind` and `connect` still, and there seem to be separate "receive from" and "send to" things anyway, and there's a special "join_multicast_v6" thing, and with multicast stuff you have to worry about different interfaces and somehow binding to different addresses than the one you actually want to listen on and it returns useless errors and is generally aææææææææææa.
