Desagati Principality
Desagati refers to minor principality[1] which was controlled by its head, Desai who was the protector of citizens, mediator of society and who also played the role of a judge, head of the army and tax collector. It is said that more than 120 Desagati principalities existed in North Karnataka between 1565-1947 A.D.[2]

Recognition
- Indian Council of Historical Research sponsored one day national seminar was conducted on 4 october 2019 on the topic Desagati Principalities of Bombay Karnataka (1565-1947 A.D.) at K.L.E Society’s Arts and Commerce College, Hatalageri Naka, Gadag district, Karnataka (India). The seminar aimed at collecting information of Desagati families and their contributions from 16th century to Pre -Independence period.[2][7]
- University Grants Commission (India) sponsored national seminar was held at V.M.S.R Vastrad Arts, Science and Commerce college at Hunagunda on the topic Contributions of Desagati Families of our state [8]
