Biography

David Bryan Strickel was born in 1968 in Texas City, TX. His father, Ray (1940-) left when he was six and his mother, Linda Rushing Strickel (1941-2014) abruptly moved he and his brother to her hometown of Minden, LA where he grew up. A dyslexic, David was not a good student and ended up taking the GED to graduate from high school and did not attend college. He is also openly gay.

As the Spiritual Biz Magazine article details, David claims that he began receiving “downloads of thought” and having other supernatural experiences from early childhood and that his first recollection of what he now calls the Stream was at age fourteen in 1982, when told his older brother Doug that if they mentally placed themselves in the conditions they wanted, such as having more money, that those conditions would manifest for them.[2]

At age nineteen, he started a real estate development company in his hometown but was ultimately unsuccessful in that business. He went on to a lengthy career in the home furnishings industry where he ended up in various executive leadership roles, later claiming that his “downloads” helped he and numerous of his employees become successful.

With his discovery of another channel, Esther Hicks, he claims to have discovered his own ability to channel “downloads” in both written and verbal form and left his career to form David Strickel Media, LLC in 2017. He started The Stream of David podcast in September, 2017[3][4] and published his first book, The Stream – Eternal Wisdom for a Better Life[5] in August 2018. The book was recently listed in "24 Books About Spirituality That are Actually Worth Reading."[6]

The book introduced the idea of Tya, which he describes as a “non-judgmental and non-dogmatic spiritual practice that, practiced regularly, delivers a life of joy, clarity and abundance.” He formed the Stream’s Tya Academy in March 2018 and claims numerous graduates all over the world.

gollark: I feel very productive today. I just got minoteaur "advanced" editor features working.
gollark: This must be able to handle real words like ULTRAFRENCH and Spaghum.
gollark: But those won't contain valuable information like that of Wiki Encyclopaedia.
gollark: Not that that's very much in big data™ terms.
gollark: I *do* have several thousand pages of crawled web content to train it off now.
