Biography
David Saxe was born into show business. His mother was a dancer in the world-famous Folies Bergère and his father was a saxophone player and bandleader for The Rat Pack. Saxe literally grew up backstage, helping with behind-the-scenes show production, organizing performances for corporate dinners, arranging band instruments, even rigging theatrical equipment to create his own special effects. His two siblings, Suzanne and Melinda, both became stage performers.
At the age of 17, Saxe launched his sister's TV special Melinda Saxe - First Lady of Magic at Bourbon Street Hotel and Casino making him the youngest producer in Las Vegas' history.[1] The show was a success and Melinda became a household name appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
David’s career quickly took off. He opened his first theater in San Francisco and by the age of 30 had produced 25 shows, many of which took the stage in Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe, Branson, Philadelphia and as far away as Japan.
In 2004, he opened V Theater in Las Vegas and developed V - The Ultimate Variety Show, which is still in production today. Six years later, David acquired a second theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, the $34 million Saxe Theater. [2]Saxe Theater opened with its first production, VEGAS! THE SHOW, and is now home to Beatleshow and Nathan Burton Comedy Magic as well.[3]
David Saxe has focused his philanthropic efforts on ALS of Nevada, serving on the Nevada chapter's Board of Directors. He raised more than $300,000 for the non-profit by producing the All Star Las Vegas Show each February. Because of these contributions, Mayor Oscar Goodman awarded David the key to the city and declared February 22nd "David Saxe Day."
Other honors include UNLV - College of Hotel Administration's "Industry Executive of the Year"[4] award for his work in the entertainment field and as an adjunct professor, In Business Las Vegas Magazine's "Top 40 Under 40" [5] as well as "Producer of the Year" by Vegas Seven Magazine.
