David Otero

David Otero is a famous singer, guitarist and composer, born in Madrid (Spain) on the 17th April 1980. He was a member of the famous pop rock band El Canto del Loco (1994-2010). After the band’s break-up, he started his solo career as “El Pescao”, recently changing it to his own name: David Otero.

History

David Otero was one of the main members (as composer and guitarist) of the most relevant Spanish pop band of the first decade of the 21st century “El Canto del Loco” (6 published albums, more than one million albums sold and numerous awards including a MTV Europe Award to the best Spanish Artist). The band broke up in 2010 after ten years together.

David started then his solo musical career as “El Pescao”, an alias inspired by the song composed by himself that was published years ago in the album “Zapatillas” from El Canto del Loco.

His first solo album “Nada Lógico”, released in 2010, got directly to the second position on Top sellers charts in Spain, selling over 30,000 copies and getting the Golden Record reward.

After a 3 year long tour, with more than 280 shows all over the Spanish geography, he released a special edition of his last album named “Un viaje nada lógico” (2011), followed by an EP titled “Ciao Pescao” (2012). He then moved to Argentina for a year, in the search of new sounds, beats and ideas for his next album.

In October 2014 “Ultramar” was released: a record with eleven eclectic songs composed in Buenos Aires and recorded in London. The result was an independent album without prejudices, with its own characteristic sound, merging styles such as pop and electronic music with organic and rock sounds.

David Otero finished the Ultramar Tour with more than 70 shows in Spain, also opening horizons in Latin America after 6 shows in Mexico in 2015 (Monterrey, Puebla and Mexico D.F) and 4 sold outs in the Mexican capital. Also the city of Buenos Aires (Argentina) hosted 4 shows in the last 5 years.

In 2017, David took a decisive turn in his career and left his former alias “El Pescao”, presenting himself as David Otero and publishing an homonymous album: “David Otero”. This album consolidates him as one of the most interesting and relevant artists in the Spanish pop scene.

In 2018, following an extensive tour throughout Spain, Mexico and Argentina, David released a new album called “1980”, where he mixes modern and luminous pop songs with revival sounds and catchy beats. Otero demonstrates once again his great versatility as a composer with songs such as Jardín de flores, Baile (with the collaboration of Rozalén, which has amounted to more than 20.000.000 streams) or Precipicio al Mar, which would eventually lead to David’s first book, published with the song’s name.

David starts 2020 with a new and ambitious project: an album that will revisit the most emblematic songs of his career, from El Canto del Loco to his latest compositions. Most of the songs will benefit from the collaboration of many well-known Spanish artists.

On the 24th of January, a new version of Una Foto en Blanco y Negro with Taburete comes out, rapidly making it to the top of the charts: #1 on the national radio, Top 10 on Shazam, Top 20 on iTunes and Top 30 viral on Spotify.

On the following months, David releases one by one 3 more singles: Buscando el Sol with Bely Basarte, Aire, with Georgina and Funambulista and Como tú, his latest composition. Together with the new version of Una Foto en Blanco y Negro, these four songs comprise the first volume of the new album.

On the 22nd of May, a new single comes out: a new version of El Canto del Loco’s Tal Como Eres, with Cepeda’s collaboration.
