David Argyle

Prof David John Argyle FRSE FRCVS is a British veterinarian who serves as Head of the Roslin Institute and Dean of the Dick Vet school from 2011. He specialises in comparative oncology and cancer in animals.

Life

He studied Veterinary Science at Glasgow University and returned there to undertake a doctorate (PhD) in Veterinary Pathology following a period in general practice. He was afterwards senior lecturer in clinical oncology at the university. In 2002 he obtained a post as associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.[1]

He returned to Scotland in 2005 to take a chair in Clinical Studies at the Dick Vet school in Edinburgh (part of Edinburgh University). There he set up the first Cancer and Imaging Centre for animals.[2]

In 2011 he replaced Prof Elaine Watson as Dean of the Veterinary Faculty.

In 2016 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.[3]

He is joint Scientific Editor of the Journal of Veterinary and Comparative Oncology.[4]
