Dara Reneé

Dara Reneé (also stylized as Renee' or Renee) (born November 7, 2000) is an American actress.

Early and personal life

Reneé was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Baltimore where her mother founded a non-profit performing arts school in Pikesville, Maryland. Her mother is an actress and her grandmother was a member of 1960s Baltimore soul group The Royalettes. Dara initially tried auditioning for theater roles in New York before moving back to California for high school.[1][2]

Career

Reneé debuted with the role of Savannah in the 2018 Disney Channel Original Movie Freaky Friday.[3][4]

In 2019, Renée had a recurring role as Stunts in the fifth season of ABC Television series Black-ish.[5] She also had a guest role in The Kids Are Alright.[6]

In February 2019, it was announced Reneé would star in Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as Kourtney, student costume designer and Nini's best friend.[7] The series premiered that November. Reneé had auditioned for the roles of Ashlyn, Gina, and Kourtney; Kourtney was originally intended to be a one-off character, but Reneé was invited to be a series regular.[8][9] She created the series' arrangement of "Bop to the Top".[10]
