Daniel Tashian

Daniel Tashian is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He has spent ten years writing and producing for Big Yellow Dog Music.[1]

Daniel Tashian

Tashian's music career began when he was 19 years old and signed his first deal on Elektra Records.[2] His first album was produced by T. Bone Burnett, and he also started a band called The Silver Seas (originally called The Bees) in 1999.[2] The success of that band lead them to an appearance on the Jools Holland Show.[3]

Recently, he co-produced Kacey Musgraves’ critically acclaimed album Golden Hour in addition to co-writing 7 of the album’s 13 songs, including “Slow Burn,” “Happy and Sad,”  “Love is a Wild Thing,” and the album’s title track, “Golden Hour.”[4] Tashian has received two Grammys,[5] one ACM award,[6] and one CMA award[7] for his work on the album. Other production credits include Tenille Townes’s Living Room Worktapes EP,[8] Jessie James Decker’s On This Holiday album,[9] and work for artists including A Girl Called Eddy, Trent Dabbs, Emily West, Lily & Madeleine, Lissie, and Sad Penny.

Other notable songwriting credits include his first number one song, “Hometown Girl” by Josh Turner,[10] “White Horse” by Tenille Townes,[11] “Good Night” by Billy Currington,[12] and “The Bees” by Leeann Womack.[13] He has also had several sync placements in hit TV shows and movies including the film Our Idiot Brother,[14] Pretty Little Liars, Nashville, Reign, and Scorpion. His band The Silver Seas also placed a song in the Breaking Bad TV series.

Tashian's latest project, a children's album for which he has written and produced all the music, as well as painted pieces for all album and single art associated with the release, is available as of May 3, 2019.[15] In July 2020, Tashian collaborated with Burt Bacharach on the EP 'Blue Umbrella'.

gollark: I mean, in lots of cases big companies actually *don't* have enough money to, say, cover several months of zero revenue.
gollark: Expensive yes, but "damaging for space"? Who cares? Besides, there are ridiculous amounts of asteroids.
gollark: That's *something*, I guess.
gollark: And you have to provide those to make *any* payments?
gollark: It's just... if you have 19 digits, you can make arbitrary payments using someone's account?
