History
Daily News was founded by Saeng Hetrakul (แสง เหตระกูล). It published its first issue on 24 June 1950, when it was called Daily Mail Wan Chan (เดลิเมล์วันจันทร์). Saeng bought a defunct newspaper, the Bangkok Daily Mail, a Thai-language newspaper which started publication in 1908 and ceased publication in 1932. The Daily News was shut down after Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat staged a coup d'état in 1957. It resumed publication in 1964. It is one of the oldest Thai-language newspapers that are still in publication, with a history of more than 60 years.
