Culiseta novaezealandiae
Culiseta novaezealandiae is a species of mosquito.[1] It is endemic to New Zealand.[2] It is found in Southland[3] and Otago.[4] This species was first described by J. S. Pillai in 1966 using specimens collected at Tahakopa.[4] The habitat of this species in its larval stage is coastal broadleaf swamp.[3] It has been hypothesised that the hosts of C. novaezealandiae are birds.[3] This mosquito species is regarded as being unlikely to be an arbovirus vector.[5]
