Crown Cement

Crown Cement Group is a manufacturer and supplier of cement, ready mix concrete and other building materials in Bangladesh.[3] M. I. Cement Factory Ltd. is the parent company of Crown Cement.[4] The Company was founded in 1994 in Dhaka.[5] It was the largest exporter of cement in 2016 in Bangladesh.[6]

History

Crown Cement was founded on December 31, 1994.[7] Initially, the company had the capacity of producing only 600 tons Portland cement per day which they increased day by day. Now the company produces more than 3.3 million metric tons per annum.[7] Crown Cement started exporting cement in 2003. The company has its factory located at West Mukterpur, Munshiganj on the bank of Dhaleswari river.[8]

The company won the national export trophy (Gold) twice for being the largest exporter in Bangladesh.[9]

Controversy

On 23 June 2020, Crown Cement was fined BDT 10 lakh for violations of guidelines on corporate governance by Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) .[10]
