Title
According to du Cange and some other authors, Konstantin was a vassal of Serbian despot Stefan Lazarević appointed to position of Lord of Mat and Kastoria before he died in 1390.[6][7][8] Some authors, including Du Cange and Philippe Labbe, emphasized that Konstantin Kastrioti had additional surname - Mazarek (Latin: Meserechus).[9][10] Jakob Philipp Fallmerayer referred to his second surname as Serbian.[11]
According to Venetian document discovered by Karl Hopf his title was Lord of Cerüja castle (Latin: dominus Serinae).[12] Hopf referred to Konstantin Kastrioti as protovestiar of Sina (Serina) near Durrazo.[13]
During Skanderbeg's Italian expedition at the age of twenty-two or twenty-three he was sent to Italy to command a contingent of troops in order to help Ferdinand I of Naples maintain his rule against the Angevins and their allies.
Since Skanderbeg was busy with internal affairs in Albania, Constantine played a leading role in the Albanian expedition before his uncle's arrival. He served under Ferdinand who had been trying to regain his territory after it had been overrun by the Angevins and their supporters.
Along with Constantine's cavalry, Francesco del Balzo, the Duke of Andria who had remained loyal to Ferdinand, managed to defeat Ercole d'Este, one of the pro-Angevin nobles in Gargano. From Gargano, they were then able to collect customs-duties of 30,000 ducats. Constantine and Ferdinand were able to regain some lost territory before Skanderbeg landed in Italy and took over the command.

Footnotes
- ^ According to Kastrioti genealogy written by Flavius Comnenus and quoted by du Cange in 1680, Kostantin was Skanderbeg's great-grandfather and the name of Skanderbeg's grandfather was Georgius.[14] The later researches proved that Kostantin was in fact Skanderbeg's uncle while the correct name of Skanderbeg's grandfather is Pal.[15]

You should know that the grandfather of Lord Scanderbeg was called Lord Paul Castriota. He ruled over no more than two villages, called Signa (Sina) and Gardi Ipostesi. To this Lord Paul was born Lord John Castriota who became Lord of Mat. And to him was born Lord Scanderbeg. The mother of the said Lord Scanderbeg, i.e. the wife of the said Lord John, was called Lady Voisava Tribalda who was of a noble family.

Да се види нетачност Флавијева родослова доста је навести ово. Према новијим истраживањима Костантин је био Кастриоту стриц, а не прадед, а по сведоџби његова сродника, дед му се звао Павле Кастриот и није имао више од два села.
