History and description

The station had two platforms. There was a substantial stone building on one, with the other supplied with only a shelter. Initially a small and insignificant halt (though the suffix 'halt' did not begin appearing util the 1900s), Church Road grew in importance and a telephone kiosk was installed in 1891,[1] together with the larger waiting room. For many years, the station's flowerbeds had its name spelt out in bedding plants[2] Despite this, the station's patronage slumped in the post-war years. It closed to both passengers and freight in 1957, having been unstaffed for a number of years.[3] The larger station building is now a private residence, though the second platform was gone by 1974.[4]

gollark: Maybe even a small raspberry pi cluster if you wanted.
gollark: Apparently so, though I'm not sure you'd be able to get lower powered ones which fit the socket.
gollark: I think the E5504s are awful slow ones. Probably basically anything else would beat them and modern ones tend to use less power.
gollark: If you mean climate controlled as in heating, don't worry! The server can do that for you.
gollark: You could maybe remove one processor (if it does have two) and maybe there's a way to reduce the power use.
