In 1993, Lombardo began his career in the Primera D Metropolitana with Victoriano Arenas.[1]In 1997, he played abroad in the USISL A-League with the Toronto Lynx.[2] He made his debut on July 5, 1997 in a match against the Richmond Kickers, coming on as a substitute for Paul Stalteri.[3] Throughout the season he appeared in five matches.[4] He helped Toronto finish fourth in the Northeastern division, which resulted in a playoff berth. Their opponents in the first round of the postseason were the Montreal impact, where the Lynx lost the series by a score of 6-1 on goals of aggregate.[5][6]

In 2001, he signed with the Toronto Supra of the Canadian Professional Soccer League.[7] He recorded his first goal for the club on June 6, 2001 in a match against St. Catharines Wolves.[8] Lombardo helped Toronto finish third in the overall standings, and secured a postseason berth. In the semi-finals he helped the Supra defeat the Toronto Olympians by a score of 3-2.[9] In the playoff finals Supra faced St. Catharines Wolves, but lost to a score of 1-0.[10]His next notable season with the Supra organization was the 2004 CPSL season, where he helped Toronto secure their first division title by finishing first in the Eastern Conference. Their opposition in the playoffs were the Vaughan Shooters, where they lost the match by a score of 4-1.[11]
