Early life and education

Bahaya was born on May 30, 1995, in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Philippines. He is the second of three children of Arnold Bahaya and Marites Retiza. He has an elder brother named Anlord and a younger sister named Princess.

In 2014, Bahaya obtained his bachelor's degree in mass communication at Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City, and he graduated in March 2018, where he was awarded as dean's lister several times.[2]

Career

Prior to Tawag Ng Tanghalan

In 2012, Bahaya's boyband group Y-Fi (stands for Young Filipinos) auditioned for The X Factor Philippines, advanced to the boot camp but did not make the Top 20.

In 2015, Bahaya and Y-Fi won the award for the Grand Champion in the Vocal Group of the World (Senior Division) category at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California, US, held from July 11 to 19. The group joined in three categories and won three medals as well for each category: Original & Rock (gold) and the Open Category (silver).[3]

Tawag Ng Tanghalan

Bahaya decided to have a solo career. On April 28, 2018, he participated in the fourth quarter of the second season of Tawag ng Tanghalan Showtime, a singing competition broadcast on ABS-CBN. He was introduced as the singing photographer and videographer and he was dubbed the "Anak Inspiring Artist ng Davao". During the daily rounds, he had six straight wins which brought him to the semi-final.[4] He did not get to the grand finals, even on the "Ultimate Resbak" (wildcard round) because of his low judges' scores and public votes.[5] His contemporary, Janine Berdin emerged as the grand champion.[6]

Post-Tawag Ng Tanghalan

After Tawag ng Tanghalan, the management formed an all-male singing trio called Cove. They are Bahaya, JM Bales, former Tawag ng Tanghalan semi-finalist and Sofronio Vasquez, former Tawag ng Tanghalan grand finalist (Vasquez was replaced by Reggie Tortugo, also a Tawag ng Tanghalan grand finalist in 2019).[7][8]

In December 2019, his group joined Your Moment, a singing and dancing competition in the Philippines (under singing category), and advanced to the second round but got eliminated.[9][10]
