Chemical Hearts is an upcoming American romantic drama film, written, produced, and directed by Richard Tanne, based on the novel Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland. It stars Austin Abrams and Lili Reinhart.

Plot

Chemical Hearts is the story of Henry Page, a teenage student who considers himself a hopeless romantic but has never fallen in love. The young man aspires to be editor of the high school newspaper and lives happily focused on his studies to enter a good university, until Grace Town enters his class. His new partner is not exactly the girl of his dreams, but little by little he falls in love with her when the two teenagers are chosen to edit the institute newspaper.

Production

In June 2016, Awesomeness Films acquired screen rights to Chemical Hearts.[1] In June 2019, it was announced Lili Reinhart and Austin Abrams had joined the cast of the film, with Richard Tanne directing from a screenplay he wrote. Amazon Studios will distribute the film.[2][3]

Filming

Principal photography began in June 2019.[4]

The film was shot at Emerson Junior/Senior High School in Emerson New Jersey.

Release

It is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2020 on Prime Video.[5]
