Chatak Chandni

Chatak Chandni is a Marathi movie released in November 1982.[1] The movie has been produced by Uma Prakash Bhende and directed by Prakash Bhende.[2] The movie is based on the village beauty who has to deal with different suitors because of her stepmom, although she is in love with someone else.

Synopsis

The village damsel, "Chatak Chandni", so nicknamed by the villagers, lives with her ever drunk father and her step-mother who hates her. She makes a living by selling lottery tickets outside the hotel of Shankaranna. The chieftain of the village, the grocer and even Shankaranna have an eye for her.

Narya, the barber, who had comes from Mumbai to pay a visit to his mother has gauged this. He considers Chandni like his sister and since she is in love with the veterinarian, he aides her with this affair, but the vet gets transferred to another village.

Her father dies and Narya requests the villagers to help Chandni. Chandni's step-mother, who is benefitted as a result announces that Chandni will marry the suitor who gets her 1 kg gold.

Cast

The cast includes Jayshree T., Prakash Bhende, Lalita Pawar, Nilu Phule, Dhumal, Bal Karve and others.

Soundtrack

The music has been composed by Shrikant Telang, while lyrics have been written by Sudhir Moghe.[3]
