Carmichaelia australis
Carmichaelia australis (common name - common broom)[3] is a species of pea in the family Fabaceae. It is found in both the North and South Islands of New Zealand.[1] Its conservation status (2018) is "Not Threatened" under the New Zealand Threat Classification System.[4]

Taxonomy & naming
The species was first described by Robert Brown in 1825.[1][2] The specific epithet, australis, means "southern".[3] The earliest collected specimen was collected by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander in 1769 (AK102896) is held in the Auckland Museum.[5]
Synonymy
C. solandri G.Simpson is accepted as a different species by ILDIS,[6] but not by Plants of the World Online,[1] nor by Allan (1961)[7], nor Heenan (1996)[8] (Note that Heenan's extensive list of synonyms differs from that of Plants of the World Online). See also: NZFlora Carmichaelia australis.
