Carmen Quesada Santamaría

Carmen Elena Quesada Santamaría (born 5 October 1969 in Turrialba, Costa Rica) is a Costa Rican politician and teacher. Joined the Social Christian Unity Party at her youth and later switched to Libertarian Movement. Between 2009 and 2010 occupied a seat in the Directive Board of the Atlantic Basin Ports and Economical Development Administrative Board (JAPDEVA, due to its initials in Spanish).[1] In 2010 and 2014 elections contest as a candidate to the Legislative Assembly, being elected as a deputy in the second opportunity, for the 2014–2018 administration, representing Limón Province. On September 2, 2015, broke with the Libertarian Movement,[2][3] remaining as an independent the rest of the period. As a deputy, was a member of the investigative commission of the Panama Papers, and, for 2017–2018 period, she was elected First Secretary of the Legislative Directory, as a product of a wide consensus in the assembly.

On November 25, 2019, founded Costa Rican Social Justice Party (Partido Justicia Social Costarricense, in Spanish), and was elected as the President of this new political movement.[4]
