Carmela Shamir

Carmela Shamir was the first female Israeli ambassador to Uzbekistan[1] from 2013 until 2017.[2] Her deputy ambassador, Hagit Mualem, was also a woman.[3]

Earlier in her career, Shamir was the deputy director of the North American department[4] at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[5]
