Cara Louise Braia (born 4 June 1992), better known by her stage name as ARACARA, is a singer, songwriter, pianist, rapper and actress from North Wales.[1] Her latest Welsh release "Maent yn Dweud"[2] (And they say)[3] was chosen as 'BBC Track of the Week' on BBC Radio Cymru.[4] Braia's music is played on BBC Radio, Heart FM and other stations around the world due to her international collaborations with other artists. She has also appeared on many television programs, soaps and has performed live on Welsh TV. She won the 'Talent House People's Choice Award' in 2014[5] after re-interpreting a song by The Kinks. Since then she has received a large following on Twitter and other social network sites.

Cara Braia is currently working on her album Deja Vu, which is also a current single.

Early life

Braia was born in Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales and primarily grew up near Llanystumdwy (a village and community on the Llŷn Peninsula of Gwynedd in Wales) before moving to Pentrefelin. After the birth of her little sister Giovana Aleta Braia in 1997, the family moved to a nearby town called Criccieth (a seaside town situated on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park) in 2000.

Braia developed a love for performing at the young age of two when she started ballet and tap dance lessons in her local dance school. Her first time performing on stage was at the age of four, and was given her first major role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at age nine.

Shortly after turning nine years old, Braia began performing in gigs around Gwynedd, North Wales, singing operatic songs with a classically trained group called 'Reflections'. From then on her passion grew even further and so did her determination to succeed in the arts.

Career

Her passion for songwriting began at the age of 16 as she produced the first tracks on her album, "Door Step", 'And They Say" and "Deja Vu".

Many local radio shows started to play her songs. Heart FM was one of the first radio shows which played "Maent yn Dweud" live. BBC Radio Cymru was also one of the first which played this track, and also chose it as 'Track Of The Week'. Braia gained media coverage as many local writers wanted interviews in order to write about her success in the music industry. Idris Charles from S4C Tinopolis contacted her for an interview on Heno which would be aired on live television.

She began to perform in venues in Wales and as her level of success increased, she began performing around the United Kingdom in venues including Venue Cymru, Glass Butter Beach Festival, and North Wales Pride. Through these she has also shared the stage with many well known acts, such as Tinchy Stryder, Baby Blue, and DJ Ace (Radio1Xtra). Since then she has collaborated with many artists from different cultural backgrounds and countries, including Australia, France, Poland, Germany, Africa, UK and the US.
