Buz Verno was born in Staten Island, New York on September 28, 1953. After his father encouraged him to start playing music, Buz began to play guitar at 7 years old. He switched to bass guitar at 12 years old.

Career
Buz has played with The Rats, Beau Jack, Cherry Vanilla,[1][2][3][4] The Staten Island Boys,[5] David Johansen Group,[6][7] Sylvain Sylvain and the Teenage News, The Others, and Helen Schneider. Buz received his first Gold record in 1982 for the album Helen Schneider with The Kick.
During his career, Buz has toured with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Earl Slick, David Johansen,[8] Sylvain Sylvain,[9] Greg Allen, Cherry Vanilla,[10] Helen Schneider, Thomas Trask,[11] Johnny Ráo,[12] Tom Morrongiello,[13] Joey Kelly and others.
