Bundelkhand Expressway

The Bundelkhand Expressway is an under construction 296 kilometre, four lane access controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.[1] Broad route will be start from Bundelkhand's Chitrakoot Dham (Karwi) after that route will be Chitrakoot Dham (Karwi)- Banda, Uttar Pradesh-Rath, India- Orai- Jalaun-Auraiya- Etawah where it will join Agra Lucknow Expressway[2]. It is proposed to be developed by the UPEIDA. The Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated land acquisition process for the flagship Bundelkhand Expressway, which is estimated to cost 14,716 crore (including land cost). [3]

Project updates

  • Apr 2017: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announces plan to build Bundelkhand Expressway.[4]
  • Aug 2017: Plan announced to connect upcoming Bundelkhand Expressway to Agra Lucknow Expressway via Bateshwar.[5]
  • Nov 2017: Work related to route survey is started, which will be followed by preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR).[6]
  • Apr 2018: Survey of Expressway is done. DPR of Expressway to be prepared in few months. [7]
  • Jun 2018: UP Government due to lack of funds requests Central Government to build Bundelkhand Expressway.[8]
  • Nov 2018: UP Government release ₹640 crores for land acquisition. [9]
  • Dec 2018: Land acquisition started. Plan is to complete land acquisition work in two months. Work to start after 80% land is acquired.[10]
  • Feb 2019: Detailed Project Report prepared, 27% land acquired.[11]
  • May 2019: 60% land acquired.[12] Bidding Process to start after Lok Sabha Model Code of Conduct.
  • Jun 2019: 79% land acquired.[13]
  • July 2019: ₹1,150 crore budget booster for Bundelkhand Expressway. [14]
  • Aug 2019: 90% land acquired, rest to be acquired in two months. Construction work to start in October 2019.[15]
  • Oct 2019: 93% land acquired. Expressway is divided into six packages. Uttar Pradesh Government shortlisted four private firms for developing the expressway namely Ashoka Buildcon, Apco Infratech, Dilip Buildcon and Gawar Construction.[16]
  • Jan 2020: Construction work on going.[17]
  • Feb 2020: 95% land acquired, 2% soil work completed. Expressway to be ready by 2022.[18] Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation of expressway on 29 February 2020.[19]
  • Apr 2020: Road construction work progressing.[20]
  • Aug 2020: 12% work completed on Expressway till 02.08.2020
