Bo Sang

Bo Sang (Thai: บ่อสร้าง) is a village in San Kamphaeng district in the outskirts of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand.

It is known for its brightly coloured handmade umbrellas and parasols, which are often decorated with floral designs. The town hosts an annual festival and the Miss Bo Sang beauty pageant.[1] In 2013 the 30th umbrella festival was held from the 18–20 January.

Etymology

The first element bo (Thai: บ่อ) means "well" or "no". The second element sang (Thai: สร้าง) means create or produce.
