Blaise (name)

Blaise is a French and English personal name and surname (from Greek Βλάσιος, the name of Saint Blaise).

From the Latin nomen Blasius, itself from the adjectiv blaesus, meaning "lisping", "stammering". The Greek Βλάσιος comes from the adjective βλαισός, meaning "bent", "distorted" or "crooked". The correlation between both etimologies is uncertain.
