Bernd Krämer

Bernd Johann Krämer (born 22 July 1947, in Berlin) is a German computer scientist and professor emeritus of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics[1][2] of FernUniversität in Hagen.

Biography

Bernd Krämer[3] studied electrical engineering and computer science at the Technical University of Berlin where he also gained his doctorate in engineering. From 1975 to 1989 and again from 1990 to 1992 he was a scientist and project director at the Gesellschaft für Mathematik und Datenverarbeitung, the German National Research Center of Computer Science, which later joined the Fraunhofer Society. From 1989 to mid 1990 he was an adjunct professor in the Computer Science department of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. In April 1992 he was appointed full professor at FernUniversität in Hagen. He is a co-founder, past president, fellow,[4] and member of the Board of Directors[5] of the Society for Design & Process Science (SDPS). From 2008 to 2013 he served as a member of the first University Council[6] of FernUniversität in Hagen. He was a guest professor at a number of renowned international universities, including the Queensland University of Technology, in Brisbane and Monash University in Melbourne, both Australia, McGill University in Montreal, the University of California, Berkeley and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

He is a co-founder of two non-profit research associations, the Scientific Academy for Service Technology[7] and edu-sharing.net. The latter aims to promote and evolve the open source repository system edu-sharing. Krämer co-founded the open access journal e-learning and education[8] and was its first editor-in-chief.

In 2003 he received the C. V. Ramamoorthy Distinguished Scholar Award and in 2006 the Raymond T. Yeh Life Time Achievement Award, both from SDPS.
