History
The Blue Dragons American Football Club was formed in July 2003 in Belgrade, and was one of the seven teams that formed Serbian Association of American Football (SAFS). They played their first game in early November 2003. and their first victory came in December of the same year. As with nearly all teams in Serbia, they played football without necessary pads and helmets until the 2007 season. The year before that, the Blue Dragons merged with the only university team in Serbia, "Elektrichar", as they tried to help that team overcome the problems that it had. All the players were glad that to have an opportunity to play for Blue Dragons, as they said. In the 2007 season, the Blue Dragons were the first team in its division, and in the playoffs they reached the semifinals in the Serbian National League, eventually losing after three overtimes against its town rivals. They had seven players in the tryout for the national team that played in Euro 2007. They have had more than 300 players attended their football school, and on their three teams (A team, B team – Elektrichar, Junior team) they have about 70 active players.
In 2016, the Blue Dragons hired an American head coach, JJ Fayed, a member of the Serbian National Team staff and previous head coach of the Indjia Indians of the same league. This is the first American Head Coach in over 10 years for the organization.
