Bath City Police

The Bath City Police was a police force responsible for policing the County Borough of Bath in Somerset, England between 1836 and 1967.[1] It was formed as a result of Municipal Corporations Act 1835 commencing duties on 15 February 1836.[2] In 1852 the force had a strength of 86 police officers.[3] It was merged with the Somerset Constabulary in 1967 to form the short-lived Somerset and Bath Constabulary, which in 1974 amalgamated into the Avon and Somerset Constabulary which polices the area to this day.[2]
