History

1997–2005: Pre-Barbarellas, and B*Witched

B*Witched were formed in 1997 consisting of twins Edele and Keavy, Lindsay Armaou, and Sinéad O'Carroll. Originally the girl group was known as D'Zire, then Sister, before settling on B*Witched. Their self-titled debut album was released in October 1998 under Glowworm Records, and produced four number-one singles, and was certified double-platinum in the UK, and platinum in the US. The band released their second album Awake and Breathe to similar, albeit less, success just a year after their debut. Following this, the band embarked on their international "Jump Up Jump Down" tour, which they released a live home video of, following this they released an EP Across America 2000.

The band were due to release their third studio album in late 2002, with "Where Will You Go?" as the lead single. Despite the success of the group, they were dropped from Glowworm Records, and split up shortly after. Following the split, Edele worked as a songwriter with the Xenomania production team, co-writing the tracks "Some Kind of Miracle" for Girls Aloud in 2003 and "Situations Heavy" for the Sugababes. Edele married Michael Barrett on 9 August 2006[1] and gave birth to a daughter on 7 July 2007 named Cleo Barrett; she gave birth to her second child on 6 April 2010 a son named Harley Christian. The couple's third child, a daughter named Enya, was born on 8 September 2011.[2]

Keavy formed a song writing and production company called Ziiiing! with musical partner Alex Toms. She played the lead role in a pantomime production of Snow White in December 2005 at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham.

2006–present: Ms Lynch, Barbarellas, and Night Mode

In 2006, the Lynch twins created a duo, Ms Lynch. From 2006 through 2009, the then-unsigned duo released several demos through their official MySpace page, and created the "Keavy and Edele" forum. The tracks include; Walk, What's Up, Diet Coke, Halo, Ms Me. Around this time, the duo brought some attention back to B*Witched, and their music received positive feedback. In December 2009 Ms Lynch were officially rebranded to "Barbarellas". On 19 January 2011, the duo's debut single "Body Rock" was released. It was originally a Ms Lynch demo, and was produced by Yoad Nevo, and remixed by Manhattan Clique and Riffs&Rays. Popjustice called the song "basically a completely amazing chorus with some slightly less amazing other stuff thrown in".[3] Their second single, "Night Mode" (originally titled "Diet Coke"), was released on 10 April 2011 to a mixed reaction from fans, who criticised the change from "Diet Coke" to "Night Mode". The duo's debut album Night Mode was released on 17 April 2011 to a mixed reception from critics, and like the singles, did not appear in the Top 100.

On 18 October 2012, it was announced that B*Witched would reunite for an ITV2 series entitled The Big Reunion along with five other pop groups of their time—911, Liberty X, Blue, Five and Atomic Kitten. The show would feature each group telling their stories of their times in their respective bands, before rehearsing together ahead of one major comeback performance at the Hammersmith Apollo.[4][5] A new song, "Love and Money", was released in April 2013. This leaves the future of the Barbarellas in question. Edele confirmed on Facebook in late 2012 that the Barbarellas project had come to an end due to a lack of commercial interest.
