Barbara West Carpenter

Barbara West Carpenter is an American politician and representative for Louisiana House district 63, where she has served since 2015.[1]

Education and Non-political Career

Carpenter received a B.S. in Vocational Education and General Science and an M.Ed in Secondary Education and Administration from Southern University, where she works as Dean of International Education and University Outreach.[2] She went on to earn her PhD in Adult and Occupational Education and International Education from Kansas State University.[1]

Political Career

Carpenter serves as Chairman of Labor and Industrial Relations committee and she serves on the committees of Appropriations and Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget. She is quite involved in elections work. She is a part of the Capital Region Legislative Delegation, the Democratic Caucus, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, and the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus.[1]

gollark: One idea for that is to have people pay upfront kickstarter-style, but that has its own problems too.
gollark: I don't really know how intellectual property issues "should" work, although I don't think the current approach of "just pretend they work like non-duplicable physical goods as much as possible" is a very good one.
