Barbara Reid

Barbara Reid (born November 16, 1957) is a Canadian illustrator and author of children's books. She has been called "one of Canada's major literary figures".[1]

She was born in Toronto, Ontario and studied at the Ontario College of Art. She began her career creating illustrations for textbooks.[2]

She creates her illustrations by starting with a pencil drawing. She then builds up the image using coloured modelling clay to give it a three-dimensional effect. The result is then photographed and used as an illustration.[3][2]

Her work has been published in over 19 countries, including Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Norway, China, Germany, Brazil and Thailand. In 2012, she received the Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People.[1] Her Zoe series of books received a Mr. Christie's Book Award.[3]

gollark: That way programs can ship with builtin configuration but it's still editable.
gollark: You could have a comment which the program runner thing detects. Maybe as a fallback if there's no custom metadata?
gollark: ```lua--[[noddle_meta/1.0{ icon = "icon here", fullscreen = true}]]print "this is program"```would be my suggestion for how to embed such data within the program.
gollark: Oh, you want users to be able to edit the icons and stuff.
gollark: They can still do that.
